TIFF 2013 Coverage: My Toronto International Film Festival Reviews
I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the
Toronto International Film Festival for the first time earlier this month, to
provide festival coverage for PopMatters. Below are links to my reviews of the
films that I saw at the festival:
Fantastic coverage, Alex, and I'm so glad that you had a wonderful time in Toronto. I'll look forward to seeing several of these films when they're released, especially Gravity and Stranger by the Lake. And yes, Gerontophilia sounds delightful as well. I saw the original cast of August: Osage County on Broadway and enjoyed the play well enough, though I'm a bit concerned about what the scenery-chewing might do to it on screen. Meryl needs to land some roles in which her face is totally unrecognizable; I find that it's almost too distracting to watch her in most things at this point, as great as she is.
Thanks, Jason. Yes, those three were among my highlights, along with the docs. (I tried to get into FINDING VIVIAN MAIER based on your recommendation but the screening was already full.) As for AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY: yeah, I think if you've seen it on stage already you can safely skip the film. :)
Stranger by the lake

It is indeed.
