Underground to Wonderland: BFI's London on Film season

My piece on BFI's London on Film season is up at PopMatters. Spotlights on Underground, Pool of London, The Long Good Friday, The Heart Within and Wonderland.  You can read it here.

  1. The Long Good Friday (1980) I mainly remember for the theme song and Hoskins in that final iconic scene in the car. Can see what you mean that the films are a time capsule to London of the past, in more ways than one. I'm curious to seek out Wonderland (1999) which you praise.

    1. I think THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY is overrated but it does have its moments, and is very interesting in the way it captures an area of the city at a transitional time. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on WONDERLAND - it's one of my all-time favourites, and I think you'll like it.
